Course Description: Counseling psychology training programs have adopted many social justice principles. Previous research has neglected the advocacy work of practitioners. Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the 1 aim of the study and the methods related to advocacy experiences of counseling psychologists in practice
  2. Analyze the data by exploring the 3 domain clusters identified in the findings
  3. Integrate the 7 study limitations with the identified areas of future research
  4. Generalize the plausibility of applying the 5 implications for practice and the 4 implications for training coupled with the idea of implementing social change

Course Outline:

  • Read and understand the article, Implementing Social Change: A Qualitative Analysis of Counseling Psychologists’ Engagement in Advocacy
  • Review the Course Description and Learning Objectives
  • Consider the factors related to advocacy experiences paired with the statistical findings from the accompanying article
  • Work through the post-test questions; keep in mind that answer selections should be derived from the respective article
  • Return to the article for clarification regarding systemic barriers to advocacy actions, or for any missed questions

Course Completion Requirements: All course materials are included in your AATBS student account. Attendees must read the course material and complete the accompanying test with a score of 75% or higher. Customers may retest if they score below 75%.
