Course Description: The definition of sex positivity is unclear as previous researchers have provided their meaning to the perspective, although the term has become more popular in the last decade. The researchers explored the similarities and differences of the conceptualization of sex positivity by asking 52 human sexuality experts.  The researchers identified seven meta-themes, which included sub-themes embedded within each.  The researchers defined sex positivity as a theory promoting respect to gender and sexuality, being non-judgmental and open-minded for personal autonomy, and providing consent.  The benefit of this study aids skilled professionals in having a definition of sex positivity when working with individuals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the purpose of the study and the methods related to defining sex positivity
