Course Description: Evidence-based practice (EBP) involves the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about individuals’ care. This approach requires a search for knowledge, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills. Researchers conducted a systematic review regarding the best way to educate social work students concerning the process of EBP and/or the application of empirically supported treatments (ESTs). Further investigation is needed concerning the effectiveness of specific teaching methods that use controlled designs and real-life situations.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the 3 research questions identified in the study and the methods related to the education of social work students regarding the process of evidence-based practice as examined in the article
  2. Analyze the data by exploring the 27 studies that met the researcher’s eligibility criteria in conjunction with the discussed findings
  3. Integrate the 6 study limitations with the identified areas suggested for future research
