Tips to studying and preparation advice for the EPPP.

Are you preparing for the EPPP?

Have you been studying for it, but not sure how to get the most out of your study time? If so, this blog post is for you! Here are tips that will help prepare and improve your knowledge in key content areas. This includes both general test prep advice as well as specific information about what's on the exam.

What is on the EPPP exam is a computer-based test offered in many places. The exam takes about four and half hours to complete, but the amount of time you actually spend on each section depends on your answers to previous questions. You should plan for eight hours total if you are doing two or three administrations.

If you want to become a psychologist it will be necessary that you pass the EPPP exam. There are a number of resources out there to help you study for this test. Some people prefer notecards, flashcards, and textbooks while others opt to use an e-learning program or take prep courses from expensive organizations like Kaplan. It really depends on your learning style as well as how much time

Tips for how to study for the EPPP:

  1. Study at your study location. If you are used to working in a coffee shop, great! But if you aren’t, don’t just change locations on exam day - it can affect performance and lead to anxiety.
  2. When reviewing content, try to think back on when and where that topic was introduced in class or lecture (i.e., review topics chronologically).
  3. Facing the clock while taking the exam is distracting. Sit with your back to a wall or window so you can see what time it is without moving your head and potentially losing focus on an item.

The EPPP is a difficult exam, but you are not alone. We have created an Exam Preparation Series to guide you through the process of studying for this important test. AATBS offers everything you need to pass the EPPP.
