Course Description: The AATBS Certification for Child Abuse Response Specialist is a self-paced home-study course that provides 28 hours of instruction. This program provides current research on the impact of abuse and neglect on children to assist mental health professionals in responding to their needs. Included is an accessible framework for culturally competent practice in child maltreatment cases. Numerous workable strategies and concrete examples are presented to help practitioners address cultural concerns at each stage of the assessment and intervention process.

This course explores the occurrence of intra-teen violence in relationships and the dangers that young people are exposed to on the Internet. Dr. Hori earned a PhD in psychology from the University of California at Riverside. He was an Associate-In Professor and Research Assistant at the University of California at Riverside, where he supervised the completion of over 50 research projects in psychology. He is credited with three publications in peer-reviewed journals.

These certification courses are appropriate for professionals in the mental health field. This includes psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, substance abuse counselors, psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists and other qualified professionals with mental health training.

AATBS is an approved provider of continuing education for many organizations, including, APA, ASWB, and many additional boards. To determine whether you are eligible to receive continuing education credit, go to the  AATBS list of approvals.
