About This Course

This course will help you build on, or recreate, your therapy practice with an approach to therapy that has been called “groundbreaking,” “transformative,” “innovative,” and “pioneering with great integrative reach!”

At the heart of Self-Meaning Based Therapy (SMB-T) is the uncovering and discovery of our Self-Meaning, which lies within the core of our unconscious. One’s self-meaning is developed in relationship with early primary caregivers and remains outside of our conscious awareness where it powerfully and pervasively influences our relationship with ourselves as well as our interpersonal relationships. Because our self-meaning is unconscious, it is inaccessible through, and unamendable to, regular talk-therapy approaches.

Being trained in SMB-T will teach you how to help your patients discover their unconsciously held self-meaning, enabling them to embark on an emancipatory project toward a newly realized psychological freedom and reconnection with their inherent creativity and natural design. Rather than simply teaching patients how to manage the unconscious negative effects of their self-meaning, SMB-T enables therapists to help patients permanently dismantle it, enabling them to experience their True Self.

SBM-T’s approach is an integrated model, grounded in psychoanalytic, humanistic, and internal family systems theory, and, it incorporates the effectiveness of bilateral stimulation.

We are excited to invite you to spend two full days with us in our virtual online training on Self-Meaning Based Therapy (SMB-T). Training dates are as follows:

  • Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 8 AM—5 PM PT
  • Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 8 AM—5 PM PT

During the two-day training, participants will:

  • Discover their own core Self-Meaning (SM), how it developed, and learn about its impactful influence in their lives;
  • Learn how to work with the SM and related components in therapy with patients;
  • Learn how to use SMB-T to heal attachment injuries and trauma; and
  • Learn how to integrate SMB-T with other therapeutic frames and models.

Course Description: Self-Meaning Based Therapy (SMB-T) is an integrated model, grounded in psychoanalytic and humanistic theory. Self-meaning is developed in relationship with early primary caregivers and remains outside of conscious awareness. Because self-meaning is unconscious, it is inaccessible through, and unamendable to, regular talk-therapy approaches. This course will train clinicians to help patients discover their unconsciously held self-meaning, enabling them to embark on an emancipatory project toward a newly realized psychological freedom and reconnection with their inherent creativity and natural design. Rather than simply teaching patients how to manage the unconscious negative effects of their self-meaning, SMB-T enables therapists to help patients permanently dismantle it, enabling them to experience their True Self.
