Course Description: Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) is a prevalent disorder that can have severe consequences in adolescents and their families. The necessity to define the symptomatic, psychosocial, and personality characteristics of individuals with this disorder is imperative. The objectives of the study were to analyze the symptomatic and personality profiles of young patients with IGD in comparison with healthy controls, analyze the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral treatment on reducing symptomatology, and compare the results of that treatment with or without the addition of a psychoeducational group offered to the parents.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the aim of the study and the methods related to IGD
  2. Analyze the data by exploring the symptomatology associated with IGD and CBT treatment
  3. Integrate the identified areas of psychoeducation as an additional treatment for IGD
