Course Description: Initial stages of online dating are extremely dependent on creating an accurate assessment of someone’s romantic potential. Profiles often consist of pictures and textual descriptions that can be used to form an impression of attractiveness and romantic appeal. The current study investigates the effects of language errors in dating profiles on an individual’s overall attractiveness level. Results show an overall negative response to language errors on perceptions of social and romantic attraction. The study also contends that clearer, more visible pictures lead to more positive outcomes. This highlights the importance of avoiding errors in any online application dating forum.
